The Dutch statistics office reports that half of the Dutch population believes their neighbourhood is going to the dogs. Around a third mentioned dog waste on the sidewalk. There are also complaints of littering and the destruction and defiling of public property.

Thirty-seven percent of the population say their greatest concern is problems with minority groups. Health and crime are also in the top five of problems which concern the public.
