On May 20 at 8 pm, a public debate will take place on China’s strategy in international relations and trade vis-à-vis the European Union and Africa.

With Prof. David Zweig, Director of the Center on China’s Transnational Relations at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Yang Guang, Director-general of the Institute of West-Asian and African Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing, China. The debate will be moderated by Prof. Meine Pieter van Dijk PhD, Professor Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies, Maastricht School of Management, with longstanding research experience in China, Asia and Africa.

Venue: the Auditorium Maastricht University, Minderbroedersberg, Maastricht. Free admission.

MAASTRICHT DEBATES

The Maastricht Debates is one activity within a larger programme of the Society of International Development (SID). It is a platform for debate and networking on issues of international cooperation and globalisation. Each debate is organised by issue experts from within the Maastricht network together with internationally oriented study associations.

The Maastricht Debates is a collaborate initiative of the University Maastricht, the Netherlands Chapter of the Society for International Development (SID), the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM), Europe-open, Lumière Cinema, and Concordantia, the study association of the European Studies program of the University Maastricht. It receives financial support by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Committee for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development (NCDO) and operates in collaboration with the Municipality of Maastricht.
