Drum rhythms are rolling up the ancient city walls, announcing the upcoming carnival. Carnival fever has hit our town. Three days and nights of celebrating in crowded streets and bars promise to turn Maastricht upside down. The entire city filled with fancy dresses, masks and music. No time for sleeping, just walk, dance and sing along.
Together with the carnival association De Tempeleers and SV Koko, Studium Generale provides you a colourful pre-taste of carnival in Maastricht, assuring you know everything about this once in a lifetime experience. Not only the history and tradition of this annual feast will be taught, you can also enjoy a hilarious carnival speech, listen to a well-known carnival band, get a sniff of the famous carnival sphere and meet the special guest of this evening, the Prince of Carnival of the city of Maastricht.
For all curious students or those who secretly want to pre-celebrate carnival. Dress-up and prepare yourself for the biggest event of the year, carnival in Maastricht!

I strongly recommend this event to everyone wanting to get more about the Maastricht carnival and to already taste the atmosphere. So, make sure you be there!!
As a native of Maastricht with an English partner I cannot but recommend carnival to anyone with an open mind for dressing up, getting slightly (or very) silly and a tiny bit tipsy during 3 crazy days. Even if you do not know any words, the music rhythm and the dancing crowds will soon get you in the mood for the biggest annual event in our old city.
