The reopening of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam has been postponed for a second time. The Dutch Culture Minister Maria van der Hoeven says the renovated museum will open its doors after the summer of 2010. The reason for the delay is that the museum is waiting for permits and there are changes to the designs of the building. The renovation of the museum began in 2003. At first it was due to reopen in mid 2008, then at the end of 2009.

The museums most famous pieces, such as the Nightwatch can still be seen in one of the museum’s wings, which has remained open during the renovation.
