Netherlands has poor work atmosphere
Violence, pestering and intimidation in the workplace occur more in the Netherlands than in any other EU country, according to the European Working Conditions Survey (EWCS) by EFILWC, a European Union research institute.
According to EWCS, employees in the Netherlands and Finland face a relatively large degree of pestering, violence or intimidation at work (8 percent). In Italy, on the other hand, these forms of undesirable behaviour occur very rarely (1 percent). The European average is 4 percent.
National figures are even more alarming. In 2006, 39 percent of Dutch employees reported they had been confronted with undesirable behaviour. Around 28 percent were faced with undesirable behaviour of management and/or colleagues; around 20 percent had to deal with undesirable behaviour of customers, show Social Affairs Ministry statistics.
