Miss Belgium gets booed for not being able to speak Dutch
Alizee Poulicek, who is from a French-speaking part of Belgium, got booed by the audience in the Miss Belgium 2008 contest when she didn’t understand a question in Dutch. And while this didn’t stop Poulicek from being awarded the Miss Belgium crown, some say it further highlights the tensions between the French and Dutch speaking communities in Belgium. The country has been unable to form a new government since the general election six months ago, leading to speculation that Belgium could split into French- and Dutch-speaking regions.
