Ethnic minorities complain of discrimination
November 15, 2007
Job seekers in the Netherlands with an ethnic background are discriminated against, according to the Social and Cultural Planning Office. Many Moroccans, Turks and Surinamese complain about obstacles to getting a job that have nothing to do with their work experience, training or language skills. A large proportion of the complaints are from women who feel they are at a disadvantage because they wear a headscarf. Moroccan job seekers feel especially discriminated against. Only once people with an ethnic background get a job, do they have fewer complaints.
