Boy dragged 10 km under car

The 8-year-old Maastricht boy found dead in a motorist’s garage in Eijsden on Saturday was killed by a collision. The police announced this on Sunday.

The motorist hit the child on the Ruttensingel in Maastricht on Friday evening and then dragged the child for the 10 km drive to her home in Eisden.

Police have charged her with causing a fatal accident.

The woman was questioned but not arrested. She told the police she didn’t notice the accident, not even after parking her car in her garage. She says she did not discover the boy’s body until Saturday morning when she went to get her car out of the garage.

The boy had been missing since 6.30 pm on Friday and police had launched a large scale search in and around Maastricht. The police questioned witnesses on Sunday and examined the woman’s car.

Police are trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together. They want to know how the boy’s body could have been dragged unnoticed for 10 km.
