Anne Frank tree saved for now
An Amsterdam court has ruled that there is no need to cut the Anne Frank tree. The judge ruled in favour of local residents and a foundation dedicated to the saving of the tree which applied for a temporary injunction. The chestnut tree that Anne Frank wrote about in her diary has been the subject of fierce debate in the Dutch capital. The owner and the district council say the tree is sick and may fall over. But the judge said there is enough time to wait for the district council’s ruling on objections lodged against the proposed fell.
