A city museum for Maastricht
Maastricht is to get its own city museum, reports the weekly paper De Ster. The Spaans Gouvernement Museum is to be transformed into a new museum showcasing the history of the city of Maastricht from the 16th century onwards.
By annexing the building located behind the Spaans Gouvernement Museum, the new museum will quadruple its current size. It is expected that the new city museum, to be called “Museum aan het Vrijthof”, will open in 2010.

At last!! But why only from the 16th century? Maastricht’s history starts much earlier…
