Thalys rails wants in the near future to increase the number of high speed trains between Maastricht and Paris to seven per day. Since yesterday it is possible to buy a return ticket for the 3-hour long journey through the Dutch railways website for the cost of EUR 61, provided that the ticket is purchased at least two weeks before the reservation date.

Thalys Director-General J.-M. Dancoisne yesterday expressed enthusiasm at the number of potential passengers in South-Limburg and the Euregio. Thalys registered a 12 per cent increase in the number of passengers during the TEFAF art fair, in comparison with 2005, when the first high-speed train reached Maastricht.
