New collaboration between MSM and Chinese university

Maastricht School of ManagementOn December 14, 2006, a delegation of the Central South University of Forestry and Technology (CSUFT) from Changsha, China, came to Maastricht to discuss the future collaboration between MSM and CSUFT. The CSUFT delegation was led by Prof. Huaiyun Zhang, President of CSUFT.

After fruitful discussions, both parties agreed upon and signed a collaboration agreement. Under this five-year agreement, MSM and CSUFT will offer a joint MBA program in Changsha, China. The first MBA intake is expected to start in fall 2007.

MSM and CSUFT also signed a Memorandum of Understanding in which they express the intention to jointly explore more opportunities for expanding the cooperation.

Central South University of Forestry and Technology (CSUFT)
Central South University of Forestry and Technology (CSUFT) is a comprehensive university characterized by forestry, wood science and tourism management. It is located in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, a city of beautiful scenery and outstanding intellectuals. Xiang River runs across the city from south to north.
Central South University of Forestry and Technology has 20 colleges, 51 undergraduate programs, 40 master’s programs, 12 doctoral programs and 2 post-doctoral programs. At present, there are 23,000 students studying in the university. Its campus covers an area of 1400,000 square meters including 639,500 square meters building structures.

Expert Center for Export and Entrepreneurship
Recently, one of the first partners of MSM, Hunan Economic & Management College (HEMC) has been merged into CSUFT. The collaboration with HEMC started back in 1986. The renewed partnership fits in MSM’s plans to play a crucial role in the Euregion to create entrances for international organizations. MSM has a broad network of alumni in China and because of it’s international faculty and experience with China, MSM has become the China Expert of the EU region.

Klaas van Mierlo, Managing Director of MSM, is currently developing an Expert Center for Export and Entrepreneurship. This center will focus on a few key countries, of which China will be one.
