DSM to build new plant in China
September 15, 2006
The Dutch chemical firm DSM has announced that it will invest tens of millions of euros in a polymer factory in Jiangsu province in China. DSM hopes to double its Chinese turnover to around a billion euros by 2010.
On Wednesday, the Dutch Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis reported that trade between the Netherlands and China had created 23,000 jobs here. The bureau estimates that the import of inexpensive Chinese goods allows every family in the Netherlands to spend an extra 300 euros a year. Deputy Foreign Trade Minister Karien van Gennep says the figures support her policy of ending trade barriers with China. Ms Van Gennep and around 50 members of the Dutch business community will visit China next week.
