Crossroads update

The following update was sent to Crossroads’ mailing list subscribers on 15 May 2006:
Dear Crossroads reader,
Welcome to the first update on recent developments on Crossroads , the newsletter for and about the international and academic institutes in the Maastricht area.
Since Crossroads was launched online in the early weeks of March, I have added more features on the homepage as well as new categories and two additional pages on the sidebar menu.
New features on the homepage
Five categories are now displayed on the homepage. The four following categories show five news items each. New items are posted every day.

A large selection of feature articles originally published in Crossroads’ print editions have now been included in the following categories.

Comprehensive archive
The archive section on the sidebar menu allows readers to view all recent entries as well as a large selection of articles originally published in Crossroads’ print editions.
RSS Feeds: Crossroads news headlines to your desktop or web browser
Crossroads news and articles are available through RSS feeds, which use a technology called XML to deliver headlines and summaries to your desktop or web browser. To use RSS, copy the following feed address: http://crossroadsmag.eu/rss and paste it into an RSS news reader , or use a browser which supports RSS feeds, such as Mozilla Firefox.
Call for contributors
Crossroads warmly accepts new writers! Our feature articles aim at informing the international community living in and around Maastricht about current topics and issues. Articles can cover a wide variety of subjects, such as the work of local international organisations and academic institutes, cultural aspects of life in South-Limburg, or publications, websites and social clubs which can be of interest for foreign nationals.
Photo submissions for the Through the lens category are also welcome. Crossroads offers a small compensation for articles and photographs. (Ideal for students!)

My name is Sueli Brodin and I have been working for the European Journalism Centre in Maastricht since 1997, first as a project assistant and later as a free-lance writer and editor. I have been contributing to Crossroads since its very first issue in December 2001. I was born in Brazil and raised in Pakistan , Japan and France . After completing a BA in English, I spent a year abroad in the United States . Then I met my Dutch husband in Israel and finally seem to have settled down in these small and cosy low lands where I have been living for the past fourteen years…
