In 2005, there were 72,000 marriages, nearly 1,200 less than in 2004. The figure is the lowest since 1945, when the same number was recorded, the Central Bureau for Statistics (CBS) reported yesterday.

Wednesday, October 4th, 5.15 pm: The last students are leaving the building. The three actors of Setheater are changing clothes. The rest of the crew is taking down the scenery.
Setheater has performed the last show of ‘Moet kunnen! Toch?’. Freely translated the title means ‘No Problem! Right?’. The play has been developed on request for Hogeschool Zuyd and is about bullying, discrimination, (sexual) intimidation; it deals with all sorts of behaviour that cross a border, for the offender or for the victim. It explores the difficult area in the middle where it is not crystal clear what is going on. What was that? Am I being intimidated? Did he/she cross a border? Did he/she mean to cross a border? The municipality of Rotterdam unlawfully rejected an applicant who refused to shake hands with women. Rotterdam should have considered allowing him to welcome people in other respectful ways. More than half of Dutch nationals who emigrate return to the Netherlands within eight years, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) said on Thursday.
